Intestinal sugar transport. Fructose is transported into the enterocyte by GLUT5 and glucose and galactose by SGLT1. Exit of fructose, glucose and galactose is provided by GLUT2. The presence and relevance of GLUT2 and SGLT4 in the apical membrane and GLUT5 in the basolateral membrane are under debate.
